Areas of Responsibility

Office of the President
The Office of the President is responsible for all matters related to the lease, security, and operation of the location, including administrative office spaces and the conference rooms, all meetings related to the Stony Brook Council and other governing boards, the Office of the President, and other administrative or non-profit groups associated with Stony Brook University. In addition, the Office of the President directs administrative personnel at the site, the rental and purchase of equipment and supplies for the administrative areas, and the general marketing of Stony Brook Manhattan.


Office of the Provost
As the University’s Chief Academic Officer, the Provost and his staff oversee everything in relation to the academic offerings and usage of Stony Brook Manhattan, including the selection and approval of all classes, the development of new academic programs for the location, the marketing of Stony Brook Manhattan classes and programs, Financial Aid and Admissions, Enrollment, Stony Brook Manhattan Web site content, use of space for academic conferences and other academic-related special events (lectures, meetings, workshops), and the approval of any equipment necessary for instruction.


University Advancement Office
The Advancement Office oversees use of the administrative areas for fundraising purposes, including all alumni events, meetings of the Stony Brook Foundation and Stony Brook University friends and affinity groups, networking events, and special events. Linda Merians, Director of Corporate and Foundation Affairs, will coordinate the creation of non-credit mini-courses, lectures, and special events for cultivation and other purposes (ext. 2-4418).


Administrative Staff at Stony Brook Manhattan

The staff at Stony Brook Manhattan is responsible for daily operations. This includes scheduling, assignment of appropriate rooms, and when requested, any special setup of the classrooms, conference rooms, and administrative offices; giving tours of the facility and the marketing of Stony Brook Manhattan in conjunction with the President’s and the Provost’s Offices; helping Stony Brook University departments and programs to plan special events, including providing information about transportation, local caterers, restaurants, and hotels; distributing appropriate security access cards to students, faculty, and staff; ordering supplies for administrative use; hiring security guards; and maintaining an adequate supply of admissions information and material.
