Anthony Arnove will discuss impending war in Sept. 25 event
Anthony Arnove, editor of the much praised collection Iraq Under Siege, will scrutinize the background and purpose of the threatened attack on Iraq in a September 25 talk sponsored by Students for Peace and Humanity.
The discussion is expected to touch on the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Iraq, the reasons for the President's ardent promotion of war, and the possibility of ethical, humane responses to the crisis.
Arnove will speak at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, in Ballroom B, located in the new Student Activities Center Phase II. A workshop for activists will follow the talk from 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
Anthony Arnove is an editor and publisher at South End Press in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, and is on the editorial board of the International Socialist
Review. Booker Prize-winning novelist Arundhati Roy has called his book
"a brilliantly collated body of unrelenting, undeniable evidence."
The event is co-sponsored by The Social Justice Alliance and Graduate Student Organization.
