Message from the Director of Athletics
It is an honor to serve Stony Brook University as Director of Athletics, and I want to thank the university community for their steadfast support of each of our 435 student-athletes. Our vision is to positively transform the life of each student-athlete. Our work would not be possible without the visionary leadership of President Stanley, and I am grateful for all that he does to champion intercollegiate athletics at Stony Brook.
The role of intercollegiate athletics at Stony Brook is vital as the university continues to make a positive impact on people’s lives throughout our region, our state, our country and the world. Stony Brook Athletics supports the fundamental belief that students possess the ability to change the world, and that it is our responsibility to partner with campus leadership and faculty to support our student-athletes in pursuit of their dreams.
I am very appreciative of the time and energy provided by the faculty, staff and students who comprise the Intercollegiate Athletics Board. As we pursue our objectives that are outlined within the five-year vision for Stony Brook Athletics, the IAB is an integral partner. Collectively, we have a shared commitment to advance the mission of the university, and our collaborative spirit allows us to address issues that impact our campus.
In order to enhance the university’s goal of becoming a top 20 public research institution, Athletics must be a prominent leader that is capable of enhancing Stony Brook’s institutional profile on a local, regional, national and global level. This can best be attained through a program that not only achieves competitive success at the highest level but also holds itself accountable to the highest standards of integrity and academic achievement.
Thank you for supporting Stony Brook Athletics and the outstanding young men and women who represent our university each day as Seawolves student-athletes.
