Message from the Director of Athletics
As the Interim Director of Athletics for Stony Brook University, it is an honor to be in a leadership position on this phenomenal campus and to be part of a dedicated group of staff members within the Athletic Department who aspire to greatness in all that we do. Our high expectations are founded in the belief that Stony Brook student-athletes will excel in the classroom, will consistently demonstrate good sportsmanship, will train to be competitive, will develop strong connections throughout our community, and will be committed to acting with respect in all of our endeavors. I am proud to represent our university, our alumni, our student-athletes and the entire Stony Brook community.
Our goals are clear. We will strive to represent Stony Brook University with pride, to operate within the mission of the University, to honor the proud history of our alumni, to create an atmosphere of loyalty, to increase revenue, and to create a positive, meaningful educational experience for each of our student-athletes during the time in which they are entrusted to our care. Additionally, I see it as our ultimate mission to prepare our athletes for the world beyond graduation and to ensure that they are ready to make a positive impact on the world as adults and as Stony Brook alumni.
I sincerely appreciate the support and guidance of the members of the Intercollegiate Athletics Board (IAB) who have volunteered to support us as we strive to reach our goals. An impressive group comprised of Stony Brook faculty, staff, students, alumni, student-athletes, coaches and University administrators, the IAB offers valuable insight, encouragement, and support for the mission of the Department of Athletics. While it is a collective challenge to operate a successful Division I intercollegiate athletics program while balanced with the mission of a world class University; knowing that the individuals on the IAB are by our side and are committed to helping us to achieve our goals helps to ensure our success.
It is important that I recognize the dedicated members of the IAB, as well as the many friends and supporters who are committed to the success of Stony Brook Athletics. Every one of you have played a part in developing a strong foundation on which we have continued to grow and achieve recent success. Moving forward, we will rely on your future support as we aspire to even greater heights in the classroom, in the competitive arena and in our community.
I encourage all of you to attend our athletic events, offer words of advice, participate in fundraising opportunities, and share in community events that will all continue to strengthen our relationships while we work hard to prepare our student-athletes for exciting futures after graduation. Once you have the opportunity to review the IAB website, I invite you to take some time to get to know us better by visiting our athletics websites at www.goseawolves.org and www.stonybrookarena.com.
