SBU researchers, students, professionals invited to sign on to science petition
As the stalemate over budget compromise continues in Washington, Stony Brook University is bracing for the "sequestration", as it is called in Washington. The automatic, across-the-board spending cuts are scheduled to take effect on March 1 unless lawmakers work out a deficit-cutting deal to avoid them.
The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) "Speak Up For Science" online petition urges the White House and Congress to achieve a bipartisan budget compromise that avoids sequestration and “moves the country on to sound fiscal footing without sacrificing our nation’s crucial investments in science and technology.”
Researchers, professionals, students, and other individuals are invited to sign on. ACCESS THE PETITION HERE
