Sustaining a Tradition of Excellence

THE STONY BROOK FOUNDATION plays a vital role in making sure that donations to the University are used efficiently and that its endowment funding is invested intelligently. The Foundation helps to transform the vision of our donors, faculty, and students into reality, and we are proud of our strong track record in doing so.

More than 95 percent of non-endowed funds donated to the Foundation last year went directly toward benefiting the University, and our lean overhead helped us to maximize the impact of donor dollars on the initiatives and programs they supported. Scholarship donors should know that 100 percent of their donations continue to go directly to our students. The Stony Brook Foundation helped to generate $3.8 million in scholarship awards for academic year 2004-2005. Our impact on students and the University increases yearly as our donors make new accomplishments possible.

Through shrewd investment and careful stewardship of the endowment, the Stony Brook Foundation also plays a key role in sustaining the University’s tradition of excellence.
