Staller Center Offers New Discount Policy for Faculty, Staff, and Alumni
Staller Center has announced a new and improved discount policy. As of January 1, 2009, Stony Brook University faculty, staff, and alumni will be able to purchase two tickets to a professional performance at a discount price ($3 off each full-price ticket) when they present their Stony Brook IDs at the Staller Center Box Office. In the past, only one ticket per ID was eligible for a discount.
“It’s important in these trying economic times to make sure our 'first family' is taken care of," said Staller Center Director Alan Inkles. "We want our campus constituents to use the discount benefit to purchase a ticket for their spouses, significant others or friends that come along to a show. Buying two tickets at a discount is a small gesture on Staller Center’s part, but we feel it’s an improved policy.”
For Stony Brook Students buying tickets the month of the performance, or during “Student Rush,” it’s even better. The new policy will allow Stony Brook students to buy two tickets at half price starting on the first of the month for performances taking place that month. (Once again, the discounts are available in-person at the Staller Center Box Office for Staller Center professional performances.)
For example, Complexions Contemporary Ballet tickets for the April 25 performance, if purchased on the first day of April or thereafter, would cost $21, and a Stony Brook student is entitled to buy two. “Student rush” tickets that go on sale 15 minutes before the start of a performance are $7, and two can be purchased (subject to availability) with a valid Stony Brook University student ID.
