Guest Speakers 911-Stony Brook University Hospital's Department of
Emergency Medicine offers free lectures by experts who provide the latest
information on emergency self-help. Each educational program features a speaker
(emergency physician, nurse, or paramedic) who talks about the topic of your
choice, printed materials, video presentation, and a question-and-answer session.
Programs can be customized to suit an organization's needs. Topics include
how to survive a heart attack/cardiac arrest; spinal injuries, bleeding, and
shock; poisoning; accessing the emergency medical system in Suffolk County;
Lyme disease; what to do when breathing stops; children's emergencies; recognizing
and clearing an obstruction of the airway; what to do before the ambulance
arrives; childproofing; stroke; pool emergencies; unconsciousness; and domestic

Organ Transplant Speaker Service-Sponsored by the
Division of Transplantation, this service is provided by a transplant
education specialist who speaks throughout the communityin schools,
churches, and synagogues, and for service organizationsto educate the
public about organ donation. Located in Room 086 of the Department of Preventive

University faculty and staff who are available to address a variety of topics
for community groups.
