  • Aisha Bishop, a student in the College of Engineering and Applied Sciences, received a National Science Foundation award to attend the 56th Lindau Meeting of Nobel Laureates and Students in Lindau, Germany. She joins a select group of students sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, National Institutes of Health, and Oak Ridge Associated Universities.
  • Nathan Hould, a hockey player and Chemical Engineering major, was funded by a Battelle Fellowship to research the use of nanotechnology and natural gas in synthesizing clean fuels.
  • Michael Nevradakis, a Political Science major with minors in Media and International Studies, and Vice President of the SBU chapter of the Student Society of Professional Journalists, served as Media Intern for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Greece.
  • Caroline Park, a junior majoring in Biochemistry, is a Goldwater Award and Howard Hughes Fellowship recipient.
  • Scott Perl, a double major in Computer Engineering and Earth & Space Sciences, presented his research at a conference in California regarding the Mars Exploration Rover Mission, which examines the grain size distribution of sedimentary rocks found at Meridianai Planum, Mars.
  • Jonathan Reinstein, an Anthropology major, is also a Howard Hughes research student in Neurobiology.
  • Evan Spiegel, a Biomedical Engineering major, recently co-authored a paper with Dr. Ki Chon, Department of Biomedical Engineering, and Dr. Irene Solomon, Department of Physiology, which was published in The Journal of Neurophysiology.
