COS Expertise provides comprehensive, detailed information about the background, skills, and accomplishments of individual faculty and staff at Stony Brook and other subscribing institutions.

COS Expertise provides access to relevant, accurate information that is supplied by the researchers themselves, and although participation is voluntary, we urge faculty to create and update profiles.

The University use COS Expertise to assess internal research capabilities, discover prospective collaborators for general research projects and multidisciplinary research projects.

Corporations and R&D organizations use COS Expertise to identify prospective collaborators and consultants.

Funding organizations use COS Expertise to identify peer reviewers for articles and proposals.

As a researcher, you can use COS Expertise to conveniently provide information about yourself to peers, prospective collaborators, and funding agents. Your Expertise profile will be the "engine" that in turn will generate funding announcements directed to you by e-mail by the COS Funding Opportunities database.
