On April 2nd 2010, the Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) will begin accepting proposals electronically via the COEUS system on a voluntary basis. The COEUS system allows for electronic campus routing and approval of proposals without the use of the paper-based SB299 form ("4 page form"), a direct connection with Grants.gov without utilization of the adobe forms and susceptibility to Grants.gov crashes and the use of a very powerful budgeting feature with all of the OSP rates and Stony Brook personnel pre-loaded through a feed from Human Resources. COEUS can be used for all proposals requiring OSP review and endorsement, including those not being submitted via Grants.gov.
In order to access the system on 4/2, you will need to enter your campus NetID and username. For faculty roles within the system, please contact Esther Miller at 2-9025. Before granting rights, Esther will verify with you your personnel information within the Peoplesoft system so that your proposals can be routed appropriately. Faculty will still be permitted to submit using the SB299.
OSP would be glad to provide a 30 minute overview/demo of COEUS at a faculty meeting or some other gathering of faculty and staff. We have already conducted these sessions to several departments on the campus. We also offer hands-on training upon request and have an on-line tutorial posted to our website referenced below.
For those of you that would like to learn a little more about this project, please go to the following link: http://www.stonybrook.edu/research/coeus/index.shtml.
