Andrew White is Interim Dean of Library Services and Director of Libraries. He came to Stony Brook University after serving as Associate Dean for Technical and Automated Services at Adelphi University Libraries, where he managed library computing, inter-library loan, acquisitions, cataloging, and periodicals. Before his tenure at Adelphi, for 18 years he held positions in both technical and public services at the Stony Brook University Music Library, and worked with, and supervised library information technology operations in both the Melville and the Health Sciences Libraries. He was the Associate Director of the Health Sciences Library until January 2007. Although recruited to be the Director of the Health Sciences Library in 2009, he was asked to serve as the Interim Dean and Director of University Libraries, and is now responsible for the management of both campus library systems. A member of Beta Phi Mu International Library and Information Studies Society, Dr. White holds a BA and MA in Music from Stony Brook University, a Master's in Library Science from Queens College, and a doctorate in Historical Musicology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. He has contributed articles to the Encyclopedia of Library and Information Science, The Encyclopedia of Microcomputers, The Electronic Library, Computers in Libraries, and Library Collections, Acquisitions, and Technical Services. Dr. White is also co-author of E-metrics for Library and Information Professionals, published in both the USA and UK, and translated into Russian. His presentations have been seen at conferences ranging from Computers in Libraries and Internet Librarian, to the annual Medical Library Association and American Library Association conferences, as well as the Charleston Conference on Issues in Book and Serials Acquisition.

He is currently a member of the Assessment and Statistic Committee of the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries, the Customer Advisory Panel for the American Chemical Society, and the Chair Elect of the State University of New York Council of Library Directors.
