Dr. Thomas R. Sexton holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Statistics from Stony Brook University. He worked for 8 years as a Reliability Engineer in the aerospace industry before joining Stony Brook’s College of Business (formerly the Harriman School) in 1977. He served as Director of the Harriman School from 1996 until 2004, and as the Associate Dean of the College of Business since 2010.
He has published extensively in the field of Data Envelopment Analysis for almost 30 years, including many papers that explore the methodology and applications of DEA. He is an Edelman Fellow in INFORMS based on his pioneering work in the application of DEA to the funding of pupil transportation in North Carolina. His research application areas include health care, public finance, electric utilities, K-12 and higher education, political campaigns, and sports management. He has also published articles in the field of transportation, including vehicle routing and scheduling, and accounting.
