The "HeartBeats of Stony Brook" mural was unveiled April 27, 2016 at the tunnel that connects East and West campuses. President Stanley (center) was on hand along with (far left) Dean of Students Timothy R. Ecklund, Naveen Mallangada '17 (at President Stanley's right), and Judith B. Greiman, Chief Deputy to the President and Vice President for Government and Community Relations (back row to the right of President Stanley). The project was conceptualized and created by Mallangada, and painted by Mallangada and nearly 100 students and faculty volunteers.

EOP awards Howie Klein
Howie Klein ’69 was honored with the 2016 Educational Opportunity Program/Advancement on Individual Merit (EOP/AIM) Distinguished Advocate Award on April 26, 2016, for his $1 million gift for scholarships. The gift will assist Stony Brook University students who pursue careers in public service, specifically for those involved with EOP/AIM. The annual awards ceremony also recognized 250 EOP/AIM students who went far beyond in regard to their contributions to campus life and for their continued academic excellence.
