To All Faculty and Staff,
In the aftermath of Super Storm Sandy and winter storm Athena I know that many of you are still struggling and I want to remind the campus community about an important resource available to you.
The Stony Brook Hardship Fund, which was established through the Employee Assistance Program (EAP), can help Stony Brook University Community members affected by a sudden and unexpected event. Historically, this Fund has only been available to faculty and staff. However, I think it is important that we respond to disasters as an inclusive community and I have asked for the Fund to be opened to students in need as well. For application details and a complete list of all the resources available to you, please visit EAP's site at http://www.stonybrook.edu/eap or call their office at 631-632-6085.
It's important to note that the Hardship Fund is entirely dependent
on contributions from members of our campus community and is part of
our It's About Us Faculty/Staff Campaign. Contributions can be made
online by visiting https://alumniandfriends.stonybrook.edu/sslpage.aspx?pid=857 or by sending a check payable to:
The Stony Brook Foundation, Hardship Fund (Account Number: 296240)
Stony Brook Foundation Business Office
230 Administration Bldg. Zip 1188
Finally, with winter upon us I urge you to please take every precaution for personal safety and security. Please remember to check our Emergency Management page located at http://www.stonybrook.edu/emergency/alerts.shtml or by following the Stony Brook University Emergency Management Office on Twitter @sbuem.
