Tragedy for Stony Brook University Community

To Students, Faculty and Staff,

Hurricane Sandy left a tragic casualty within the Stony Brook University campus community early on Tuesday morning. A group of our students were involved in a motor vehicle accident in the Port Jefferson area. One of those students, Vishwaja Muppa, passed away from her injuries. Another student is in critical condition; three others were spared from life-threatening injuries, but they have experienced a great loss and are praying for the recovery of their friend.

On behalf of Stony Brook University, I extend personal and heartfelt condolences to Vishwaja's family, her friends, her professors and all those who knew her.

Vishwaja’s family is advising that viewing services and hours will be held on Friday, November 2, 2012 between 4:30pm-6pm at the address below.

All are welcome.
