To all Faculty and Staff,
On behalf of the Board of Trustees of the Stony Brook Foundation, I invite you to join us for this year's Stars of Stony Brook Gala as we honor Stony Brook University faculty member Dr. Patricia Wright on Wednesday, April 16 at Pier Sixty in New York City. In addition to raising money to support student scholarship programs, this year's Gala will benefit Stony Brook University’s work in Madagascar.
A winner of the prestigious MacArthur Foundation ‘Genius’ Award, Dr. Wright is the founder of Centre ValBio, a modern research campus in the rain forest of Madagascar. For almost three decades, Dr. Wright has combined her research on lemurs with efforts to preserve the country’s endangered rainforests. In addition, Centre ValBio partners with surrounding communities through its outreach programs to help the Malagasy people.
With the recent establishment of Stony Brook’s Global Health Institute, we are more invested in Madagascar than ever. The Institute, made possible by a generous gift from Jim and Robin Herrnstein, will collaborate with Centre ValBio to drive cutting-edge health research and programming in the region.
The Gala is truly a night when Stony Brook shines and I hope you will celebrate with us. We are offering faculty and staff tickets at a reduced price of $500 per person or $5,000 for a table of ten. In addition, we are pleased to offer chartered coach transportation to/from the Gala. Buses will depart from campus and return immediately afterwards. Space is limited and available on a first come, first served basis. Reservations are required.
To purchase tickets and reserve seats on the bus, please complete and return the response form (link below) or contact Nicole Piampiano at 632-4197 or Nicole.firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thank you in advance for supporting our students through the 2014 Stars of Stony Brook Gala. I look forward to celebrating with you on April 16.
