Spotlight on 2011 Director of the Year Finalist Robert Lenahan

On July 11, 2012 Stony Brook University Police Department welcomed seven new police recruits upon graduation from the Suffolk County Police Department Academy in Brentwood, NY. These recruits along with the 76 others from this graduating class have received certificates for completing the program that trains officers for the Suffolk County Police Department and other agencies. The course includes classroom training as well as hands on drills. All of the recruits previously passed the University Police Officer 1 exam given by the New York State Department of Civil Service and have passed physical, psychological and background checks.

Senator John J. Flanagan paid a visit to Stony Brook University to recognize the recent accreditation of the University Police Department. Presenting Chief Robert Lenahan with a Certificate of Recognition, Senator Flanagan expressed his pride in the hard work of the Police Department and the contributions of all state workers.
