Ms. Patricia Dixon is the Assistant to the Director for Teacher Education. She works with Administration on the graduate and undergraduate preparation program and educational leadership programs. Patricia holds a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree from St. Joseph's College and a Master of Arts (M.A.) with a focus in Labor Relations (Spring 2012) from Stony Brook University. Patricia also, holds an advanced Graduate Certificate in Human Resource Management from Stony Brook University and an Advanced Graduate Certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution from the Center of Legal Studies.
Patricia Dixon serves as an Albany Professional Delegate (2011-2013), NYSUT Delegate (2011-2013), and Statewide Women's Rights and Concerns Committee (2010-2013) and Statewide Membership Development Committee (2010-2013). Patricia was chair of the Women's Concerns Committee (2010-2012) and organized many campus-wide seminars including; Domestic Violence seminar (2010) , Nutrition seminar (2010) , Blood Pressure seminar (2011), and Self Defense workshop. She's responsible for the Dress for Success campaign campus-wide (2010-2012). Patricia headed the committee for the 100th Anniversary of the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire Dedication Series (2011); "The Triangle Fire-Does It Still Matter?", Herstory "Workplace Dangers: Tales of Advocacy and Mourning" and the Campus-wide Commemoration.
Patricia received the Smithtown Teaching American History Program grant award for outstanding administrative support (2008-2009) and has both assisted and managed many grants and outreach activities across disciplines including: Japan Center's Annual Essay Competition (2008-2011), Smithtown Teaching American History Program grant (2008-2009), Environmental Education Camp grant (2007-2009), Presidential Mini-grant "Addressing Diversity across Disciplines" (2008-2009), International Chautauqua Short Course Program for College and University faculty grant (2007-2009), Italian Studies Annual Essay Competition (2007-2008), and Presidential Mini-grant "Dialogue Across Differences" (2007-2008).
Patricia Dixon is a member of the PEP Collective (2007-present) and ex-officio member of the PEP Advisory Board (2007-present), PEP Seminar Committtee (2007-present) and continuous unit ad-hoc committees . She volunteers for Earth Stock Day annually (2006-present). She was a past member of the S.U.S.B. Environmental Education Camp Committee Ex Officio (2007-2008). Patricia's community involvement off campus included serving as a Board of Elections Officer, Board Member for St. Joseph's Alumni and a past member of the Sierra Club Environmental Organization. Patricia received the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Academic Award.
