Descriptive Title: Lecturer REF#: F-6082-09-10 Budget Title: same as above Faculty Position Department: Science Education Program - Division of Professional Education Program Campus: Stony Brook West Campus/HSC Salary: Commensurate with experience Required Qualifications: Master's degree in a Science field and five years teaching experience (grades 7-12.) Preferred Qualifications: Higher education experience in teach education and administrative experience. Responsibilities & Requirements: The Science Education Program seeks a teacher educator to teach methods courses, supervise teacher candidates in the public schools, conduct a weekly seminar and participate in the related educational activities of the Program. o Teach six courses annually (methods courses, student teaching seminar, etc.) o Coordinate, supervise, and place teacher candidates in the public schools. o Interview, advise and assess students. o Review student files for eligibility for student teaching placement. o Engage in professional development activities. o Participate in grant and educational outreach activities. o Prepare documentation for accreditation renewals. Special Notes: This is a non-tenure track position. Anticipated start date: January 1, 2010. The selected candidate must successfully clear a background investigation.
