On-Campus Overnight Accommodations
During our summer program, students or family members have the option to stay in a residential hall before or after orientation. This option is not available during January orientation.
Only first-year students (freshmen) tour the residential halls during orientation. Due to scheduling limitations, transfer students, as well of the parents and guests of all students (freshmen and transfers), do not visit the residence halls during orientation. Stony Brook University does not offer an overnight orientation program during the summer or January.
Students or family members who wish to experience residential living prior to move-in day may wish to participate in Conference and Guest Housing on the evening before and/or after their summer orientation day. Students, Parents and Guests who select this option will be placed in one of the 3 bedroom shared suite residence halls on campus. A single bedroom at a rate of $56.00 per person per night or a double bedroom at a rate of $46 per person per night, linens included, is available. Suite spaces share a living room and bathroom. Conference and Guest housing is also a convenient and cost-effective alternative to staying at an area hotel. Conference and Guest Housing is not available during January orientation or after August 8.
Staying on campus in a residence hall before or after orientation is a great way for students to experience the University’s atmosphere. Staying on campus is convenient; you are within walking distance to orientation, can enjoy dining at the Student Activities Center and can provide parents and transfer students a chance to see the residence hall rooms. Stony Brook University and Campus Residences believe this is a great opportunity and encourage you to reserve a spot through the office of Conference Housing.
Once you have received your orientation date via mail, you may wish to reserve a room on campus via the Conference Housing website the Conference Housing website
Off-campus overnight accommodations are available at areas hotels. Visit the Admissions Campus Visits website for more information: http://www.stonybrook.edu/sb/visiting.shtml.
