JANUARY ADMITS
Congratulations on your decision to attend Stony Brook University. As a student entering the University in January, much of the information under the “First-Year Student” and “Transfer Student” pages of the Orientation web site is applicable to you. There are some unique differences, however, that are important for you to know.
- Part I is known as “January Orientation” (not “summer orientation”).
- Part II includes “Chill Fest,” as well as “Experience Stony Brook”. Chill Fest and Experience Stony Brook occur during the three days prior to the start of spring semester classes.
- All orientations that occur during the month of January are half-day sessions. This includes orientations for both first-year student and transfer students.
- There is no Parent/Family program available during January orientation sessions.
- There is no walking campus or residential quad tour available during January orientation.
- All first-year student orientations will occur on the same day, regardless of Undergraduate College. January orientation sessions are not divided by Undergraduate College for first-year students.
