Welcome to the Student Orientation and Family Programs Website! Our office is dedicated to helping new students and family members during Orientation, through the First-Year Experience, and throughout the Stony Brook Undergraduate experience. We hope you enjoy our website, and will come back and visit often!

ADVISING PLANNING FORM INFORMATION

The Advising Planning form will be available in the “New Student Information” file in a student’s SOLAR account on May 6th. First-year students (freshmen) must complete this form to register for the proctored math assessment, learn about their writing placement, and communicate AP/Transfer credits to their advisor. Transfer students will complete this form to register for the proctored math assessment. Please check your SOLAR account after May 6th and complete the Advising Planning form as soon as it is available.

  • Information on New Student Orientation - Summer 2008
    New Transfer students entering in fall 2008 will be assigned an orientation day on a Tuesday or Thursday during the month of June. New First-Year students (freshmen) entering in fall 2008 will be assigned an orientation date on a Tuesday, Thursday, or Friday during the month of July. Orientation dates are assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis after students pay all deposits/fees and complete the New Student Preferences form on SOLAR. Orientation dates will be mailed by the office of Student Orientation & Family Programs to all new students in the "big blue envelope" beginning in mid-April. Students in the Honors College, WISE, EOP/AIM and International students will be assigned a separate orientation date, and will receive correspondence directly from those programs.
