Stony Brook University is rolling out the red carpet for the parents and family members of Students on Parent/Family Day. Come see what makes us RED HOT!

10:30 AM Parking and Check-in (Administration Overflow Lot across from Wang Center)
Free parking is available on campus. Family members will check-in at the Javits Center to receive their agenda for the day, meal tickets, game tickets and other info. A literature table with maps and other events happening around campus will be available.

11:30 AM -1:30 PM Faculty Lectures (Javits Center classrooms)
Your choice of lectures by our world-famous faculty. No advance registration required. Lectures may fill due to capacity.
  • Marianna Savoca, Director of the Career Center, will explore the complex relationship between today's college education and a graduate’s career & financial success.
  • Dr. Michelle Millar, Associate Professor of Chemistry, will demonstrate chemical concepts that SBU students experience in the classroom, as well as research & career opportunities.
  • Dean Howard Schneider, Dean of the School of Journalism, discusses how Stony Brook University’sjournalism program is educating a generation of news consumers.
  • Other faculty lecturers to be announced!
1:30 – 3:30 PM Family Tailgate BBQ (Stadium Field. Rain Location: Sports Complex)
Enjoy a family barbeque, along with face painting, Wolfie tattoos and giveaways. Get your game face on before the game!
BBQ Catered by "Famous Dave's." Kosher and halal options are not available. Vegetarian options provided.
2:45 PM Pre-Game Show (LaValle Stadium)
Stony Brook University Marching Band and the office of Athletics provide a red hot pre-game show that you don't want to miss. Bring your shouting voice and get ready to cheer for the Seawolves!

Wolfie Lane (outside LaValle Stadium)
Kids can jump on the moon bounce or toss a football through our SBU inflatable activities. Take a picture with our mascot, Wolfie. Come watch the SBU Red Hot Marching band's spirit show outside the stadium. Be sure to wear red!
3:00 PM Stony Brook University Seawolves vs. Coastal Carolina (LaValle Stadium)
Cheer the Seawolves on to victory in LaValle Stadium!
Don't miss the Inaugural Half Time Show as SBU Athletics presents a special welcome to our President Samuel Stanley, Jr., M.D.

Additional Information

  • Registration fee is $20/per person for adults and children over five year old. Children 5 and under are free. Registration fee includes lunch, football game, and lectures.
  • Deadline to register is October 10, 2009. Registration is only available online. No refunds can be issues after October 17, 2009.
  • Free parking is available in the Administration Overflow Lot.
  • Overnight accommodations are not available on campus during the academic year. Area accommodations are available, including national hotels, such as the Holiday Inn Express in Stony Brook or the Hampton Inn in Farmingville, which are convenient to the Long Island Expressway, as well as local hotels, such as the Three Village Inn in Stony Brook and Danford's in Port Jefferson. Some hotels may offer a "Stony Brook University" rate or free shuttle service to the University upon request.
