Important Note: Proficiency Algebra, Business Calculus, Calculus for Life Sciences, and Statistics classes do not fulfill the calculus requirement for engineering, business, math, pre-med, nursing, or science-related majors.
If you have completed a college-level pre-calculus or calculus class, or AP calculus exam, please submit your official transcript or AP scores to: Transfer Office, 134 Administration, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY 11794-1909. Please bring a copy of your unofficial transcript as well as course descriptions and syllabi for any completed pre-calculus or calculus classes to your Orientation day. Otherwise, you will NOT be able to register for math or science-related classes at Orientation.
How do I sign up to take the proctored math assessment? You MUST take the math assessment at least TWO BUSINESS DAYS prior to your Orientation in order to be eligible to register for classes at Orientation. Please go to your SOLAR account TODAY (www.stonybrook.edu/solarsystem) and click on the Advising Planning Form under the new student information folder to select your preferred date, time, and location. The math assessment is offered on the Main and Manhattan campuses, so please select a location that is most convenient for you. You will need your name or Stony Brook ID to sign on, as well as your birth date.
We have reserved a limited number of spaces to offer the proctored math assessment on Orientation days if you are an out-of-state student and cannot travel to campus before your Orientation.
