LIGASE becomes part of the Center for Science and Mathematics Education (CESAME) (08/07)

Our science education programs bring students and teachers to the Stony Brook campus from Long Island, New York City, and beyond. Elementary, middle, and high school teachers both teach and take our workshops and contribute strongly to the vitality and intellectual life of LIGASE. Middle and high school students carry out summer research in our laboratories and work in the Biotechnology Teaching Center during the academic year. Undergraduate students learn in new research-based courses, obtain research fellowships, and carry out faculty-sponsored research. Faculty, teachers, graduate students, and postdoctoral fellows learn and teach together.

Our vision is to build partnerships, attract talent, and make available innovative science offerings so that we continue to set a national standard for delivering science education for decades to come.
