Reproduction of Materials from Special Collections & University Archives

Special Collections reproduces material in the form of photocopies or digital scans to the extent that physical condition and copyright restrictions permit. All requests require completion of our registration form. If material owned by the department is to be published in any format, an application for the publishing of Special Collections materials must be completed as well.

Reproduction requests must be approved by the Department Head. Decisions will take into account the type and condition of the binding, the brittleness of the paper, the fragility of the item, and restrictions placed by donors. We do not copy more than 300 pages from a collection. Items are photocopied or scanned one page at a time by professional staff on equipment designed to carefully reproduce bound and fragile materials.

The Library adheres to the provisions of the 1976 Copyright Act and follows the minimum standards of educational fair use established under Section 107 of H.R. 2223 by the Ad Hoc Committee on Copyright Law Revision.
