Introduction
C. David Heymann, author of R.F.K: A Candid Biography of Robert F.
Kennedy, donated approximately 70 cubic feet of his related research
material to Stony Brook University in 1997.
Mr. Heymann is the author of several acclaimed biographies, including
Poor Little Rich Girl: The Life and Legend of Barbara Hutton, A Woman
Named Jackie: An Intimate Biography of Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis,
and Liz: An Intimate Biography of Elizabeth Taylor.
Collection Note
The material contained within the Robert F. Kennedy Collection was
utilized by Mr. Heymann for the purpose of writing R.F.K: A Candid Biography
of Robert F. Kennedy. It provides researchers with a comprehensive look
at the political and personal life of Robert Kennedy. Documents include
manuscript drafts, correspondence, newspaper clippings, personality
files, and interviews. The collection consists of four series: Chronological
Subject Files, RFK Manuscript Materials, Photographs, and Interviews.
The original order and folder headings have been maintained where applicable
and re-created in other instances to assist researchers. Items housed
in acidic or metal housings have been removed from these housings for
preservation reasons. These materials have been placed in acid free
folders and containers. All metal clips have been removed and replaced,
in accordance with accepted archival standards of preservation.
