Special Collections and University Archives at Stony Brook University has been an invaluable resource for the University community, visiting scholars, and the general public for more than 35 years. The collection includes more than 20,000 printed volumes, 275 manuscript collections, and 1,700 historic maps. Manuscripts, letters, pamphlets, broadsides, maps, newspapers, in addition to books and periodicals, are included in the collection. The University Archives serves as the official repository for all Stony Brook University publications and include printed, manuscript, and ephemeral materials created by the administration, faculty, staff, and students at Stony Brook.

Special Collections is open by appointment Monday through Friday from 10:30 a.m. – 4 p.m. We invite the University community and the public to visit the library and consult our unique resources.
