Types of Databases

The two types of databases that you will be using are: library catalogs and article databases.

Library Catalogs

Library catalogs organize all of the materials a library purchases. These include records for books, magazines, journals, newspapers, videos, sound recordings, images, etc.

STARS button does not include articles.

Article Databases

Article databases are used to identify articles on a topic.

InfoTrac

Some article databases such as InfoTrac are general or multidisciplinary.
Wilson Web
Many databases specialize in a particular subject area, such as biology, education, or business.
