To access SOLAR:
- Go to the SOLAR System Welcome Page (www.stonybrook.edu/solarsystem). There is also a link to SOLAR on the top right of the Stony Brook home page.
- Click the SOLAR LOGIN button.
- Type in your Stony Brook ID number and password. You should have received your Stony Brook ID number in your admissions packet. Your Stony Brook ID number can also be found on your student ID card which resident students receive when they check in to their residence hall for the first time. Commuter students receive their ID cards at Convocation.
- Your SOLAR password is initially set to your birthday in MMDDYY format. You should change this password the first time you log into SOLAR using the Change My Solar Password link.
- Once you have entered both your Stony Brook ID number and your SOLAR password, click the Sign In button.
Be sure to enter your personal information for each of the links listed under Security and Personal Data. Fill in your addresses, phone numbers, e-mail addresses and emergency contacts. The preferred e-mail account you list in SOLAR will be the one that all University communications are sent to, so make sure it is an account you check often. If you do not select a preferred e-mail, your campus e-mail address will be set as your default.
