Description:
Windows Vista is Microsoft's latest computer operating system that serves to organize and control the hardware and software of your machine, so that the computer runs smoothly and other applications run efficiently. Windows Vista has a different user interface and visual style from its predecessor, Windows XP.

Licensing/Cost:

Students can purchase one copy of Windows Vista for $15.75. The software can be installed one time as part of the University's Microsoft Campus Agreement. Students must bring their Stony Brook ID card to either the Seawolves MarketPlace or Matthews Bookstore in order to receive the installation DVD.

Faculty and staff or departmental support technicians can purchase Windows Vista Business Edition for $46.91 under the University's Microsoft Select License.

Faculty, staff and departmental technicians can no longer purchase Windows XP through the Microsoft Select License. They have to purchase Windows Vista and then downgrade to XP.
