Maple

Description:
Maple is a sophisticated program for solving mathematical problems symbolically as well as numerically. It produces 2-D and 3-D graphs.

Licensing/Cost:
Faculty, staff, and students may download Maple from Softweb at no cost or obtain a CD for $5 from Seawolves MarketPlace. Maple expires each year on August 31st. Faculty or staff managing instructional labs may submit a request for funding from Teaching, Learning + Technology. Authorized users may install the software on (1) their workstations at work, (2) their workstations at home, and (3) their portable (laptop) computers, as well as access to the software online from a licensed processor.

Mathematica

Description:
Mathematica is a sophisticated computation system that handles various aspects of technical computing.

Licensing/Cost:
Faculty and staff can obtain the software and license information free from their department representative or from Teaching, Learning + Technology for $10 payable by check, money order, or $9 if using a Material and Services Requisition. Faculty or staff managing instructional labs may submit a request for funding from Teaching, Learning + Technology.

Students can obtain the software for $5 from Seawolves MarketPlace. Each student must sign a license agreement.

Mathworks/Matlab

Description:
Interactive, technical computing software designed for algorithm development, data analysis, visualization and numeric computation.

Licensing/Cost:
MathWorks is providing one copy of the media and documentation for all computers on campus. Software licensing is renewed annually on July 1st. The current license fee is $100.00 per license. Each license allows one user to access the software at a time (If you purchase 5 licenses, your department can have 5 users accessing the software at a time). Licenses are tied to a specific computer system by IP address. If the computer system you intend to install MathWorks/Matlab on has a DHCP-assigned IP address, you must contact your network administrator and obtain a static IP address. Only systems with static IP addresses will be accommodated.
