Geographic Information Systems (GIS)

ESRI

Description:
Geographic information systems and mapping software for modeling and mapping our world.

Licensing/Cost:
ESRI is available to all Stony Brook University faculty, staff, and students as part of the SUNY Academic Software Initiative. The Division of Information Technology absorbs the licensing costs and so it is provided at no additional cost (except for a hardware dongle if needed). A registration number or a hardware dongle is required depending on the ESRI software you are seeking to obtain. Faculty and staff can use ESRI from anywhere and can even load it on their personal computers for work-at-home use. Undergraduate students can only use it from University-owned machines or when using a dongle server (key server) run by the University. Graduate students can use ESRI on University-owned computers and need to sign an agreement if they are looking to use the software off-campus. A yearly renewal is required for the dongle-enabled software.

Support:
For support with installing, configuring, or using ESRI, please refer to the ESRI Support Center or send an e-mail to ESRISupport@notes.cc.sunysb.edu.
