If you wish to use the Internet from your Stony Brook dorm room, then you must register your computer with ResNet, the campus residential network.
Residential Networking
Students living on campus need an ethernet cable in order to access the Internet from their dorm room.
Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Stony Brook University's Work-at-Home (WAH) service (formerly Web VPN) allows University users to connect to Stony Brook resources such as shared folders, PeopleSoft and internal websites from off-campus using DSL or cable.
File Storage & Collaboration
Stony Brook University provides file storage of varying capacity for all students, faculty, and staff.
Dial-Up
If you have a computer and modem at home, you can access e-mail and the Internet by using the dial-in facilities provided by the University.
Wireless (AirNet)
Campus wireless access is available for all faculty, staff and students through AirNet at many locations throughout the Stony Brook Campuses.
Guest Wireless Access (GuestNet)
GuestNet is a wireless network for conferences/seminars at Stony Brook University. Guests must request access to use wireless through GuestNet.
Public Jacks
Public Jacks are available for use to Univeristy affiliates who have a NetID.
