The RF Business System consists of the Oracle suite of grants management, financial and human resources applications. It is primarily a transaction-processing and report-generating system used by the administrative offices that conduct research activity and serve the Stony Brook research community.
The business system also includes the Principal Investigator Award Interface (PIAI) which is a Web-based, user-friendly information interface to the Oracle system providing a wide range of administrative and financial information to principal investigators and their staffs. PIAI can be accessed with your Web browser, works on both Windows and Mac platforms and is fully secure, allowing access only to authorized users.
The Oracle system produces Monthly Award and Project Summaries (MAS and MPS) which contain accumulated totals and current month detail of award and project financial transactions, but only for the most recent six months. However, a more convenient tool is the Lotus Notes database that is maintained locally and contains at least the most recent three years of activity. The Lotus Notes database of MAS and MPS reports can be accessed via the Web making it accessible from off-campus locations.
