Blackboard is the University's Web-based course management system that is designed to facilitate communication between students and instructors. It enables faculty to post their syllabus and other course-related materials in one place on the Web for student access. Blackboard provides different communication features such as wikis, blogs, and discussion boards to disseminate and share information.
All courses are put into Blackboard, but instructors need to activate the course before students will be able to access it. All registered students (undergraduate and graduate) receive a Blackboard account at the beginning of their first semester at Stony Brook.
