January 28: Budgeting- How to manage your money wisely. Share money saving tips with your fellow students.
February 4: Study Skills—Are you a successful student? Come share your tips with your fellow classmates! This presentation will give you pointers how to study effectively.
February 18: Driving in the U.S. PART 1 —Information about the Department of Motor Vehicles, necessary documents, taking the written test, getting your driving permit and practicing for the road test.
February 25: Driving in the U.S. PART 2— After you start driving in the U.S. What to do if you get a traffic violation or get into an accident? How well do you understand road signs? Are you a good driver?
March 4: Research Abroad— This presentation will focus on the application process for F-1 students who would like to conduct research in another country other than their home country.
March 11: Study Abroad— This presentation will focus on what F-1 students should do if they would like to study abroad with SBU in a country other than their home country.
March 18: Travel within the United States—Documents you need to carry and utilizing the Internet to find low cost travel options travel within the United States and North America.
March 25: SBU International Fulbrighters meet U.S. Fulbrighters—Current and former Fulbrighters meet and network. This session is for all Fulbright students and scholars and Fulbright alumni.
April 8: Internship and Career/Job topics—Career advice for international students/scholars, resume-building. Come with questions!
April 15: Paris, Je T’aime movie & Discussion—Several short films about Paris and love. (90 min.)
April 22: Summer on Long Island—Are you spending your summer here? Would you like some ideas what to do besides visit New York City? Long Island is a great place to be during warmer months, please join us for this in-depth look how you can spend an exciting summer here!
April 29: Advanced topics regarding Health Insurance—Are you confused about your health insurance? Would you like more information? Please come with all your questions!
May 6: Returning Home and Congratulations Party—Preparing for your return to your home country, what to expect, ideas for adjusting and overcoming “reverse culture shock.” Small party to follow
