IAPL
Conferences
Each year, the IAPL conducts a spring conference in cooperation with a major international university. At these meetings discussions center around an important contemporary theme. Invited speakers have included scholars as diverse as Jacques Derrida, J. Hillis Miller, Rene Girard, Dominick LaCapra, Helene Cixous, Stanley Fish, Paul Ricoeur, Agnes Heller, Paul de Man, Stanley Cavell, Fredric Jameson, Kenneth Frampton, Drucilla Cornell, Eugenio Donato, Robert Scholes, Rudolf A. Makkreel, Bernard Williams, Karsten Harries, Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, Donald Kuspit, Mario J. Valdez, Joan Stambaugh, Nancy K. Miller, Carlo Sini, Daniel Charles, Arthur and Marilouise Kroker, Kathy Acker, Katherine Hayles, Mark Taylor, Rosi Braidotti, Geoffrey Hartman, Paul Gilroy, Moira Gatens, Mario Perniola, Paul Patton, and bell hooks. In addition, the conference format includes symposia, panels, organized sessions and seminars cutting across disciplines as various as literature, art, architecture, history, women's studies, cultural studies, film, sociology and philosophy. The conference program is subject to careful planning and review by the IAPL Executive Committee. Call for PapersEach summer a Call for Papers is sent to IAPL members with details concerning organized sessions and special panels on topics related to the general theme of the Conference. Correspondence and proposals or abstracts for general sessions (seven copies of two or three pages) should be sent to: IAPL General Sessions, International Association for Philosophy and Literature, Stony Brook University, Stony Brook, NY 11794-3750 USA.
