Monday, June 2 - Summer Term I Session Code C begins (6/02 - 7/10)
Monday, June 30 - Classes begin in the School of Health Technology and Management for new students in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant and Respiratory Care.
Monday, June 30 - Summer Term II Session Code 9 (06/30 - 08/08) and Session Code M (06/30 - 08/21) begin.

TUITION & FEE LIABILITY RESULTING FROM STUDENT WITHDRAWALS & CANCELLATIONS

Students who officially withdraw from the University or reduce the number of credits for which they are registered may be entitled to a proportionate refund of tuition paid or proportionate adjustment of tuition charges. The first day of classes as scheduled by the campus shall be deemed to be the first day that classes are offered, as scheduled by the academic calendar.

Fall 2008 Calendar

AUGUST    
25 Monday Classes begin in the Schools of Medicine and Dental Medicine.
SEPTEMBER    
1 Monday Labor Day (Classes Not in session).
2 Tuesday Classes begin in the Basic Sciences, Graduate Program in Public Health, the Schools of Nursing; Social Welfare; Health Technology and Management; and West Campus. ($40 late registration fee assessed to all students who are not enrolled in at least one course before September 2nd).
8 Monday Last day for all students to drop a course without tuition liability.
15 Monday For all students, last day to drop a course without a "W" being recorded. Last day for undergraduates to add a course.
22 Monday

Last day for graduate students to add or withdraw from a course. All registration transactions must be handled through your HSC school.

29 Monday Rosh Hashanah - Observed (Classes Not in session after 5:00 P.M.)
30 Tuesday Rosh Hashanah - Observed
OCTOBER    
1 Wednesday Rosh Hashanah - Observed (Classes Not in session.)
8 Wednesday Yom Kippur - Observed (Classes Not in session after 5:00 P.M.)
9 Thursday Yom Kippur - Observed (Classes Not in session).
13 Monday Last day to file for Fall (December) and Winter (January) graduation. Undergraduates must apply on-line via the Solar System. Click on the "Apply for Graduation" link on the Solar System homepage. Only Seniors (U4) who have completed (posted to their records) at least 102 credits (or greater) with a declared major will be eligible to apply.
NOVEMBER    
3 Monday Last day for removal of Incomplete (I) grades from 2008 Spring and Summer term codes.
10 Monday

Last day for undergraduates to withdraw from a course (W will be recorded). (Withdrawal from all classes must be processed by the student's HSC school.)

11 Tuesday

Tentative date for Winter and Spring 2009 registration for graduate and undergraduate students (not including non-matrics). Check the Solar System for your enrollment appointment.

27-30 Thu - Sun Thanksgiving recess (Classes Not in session). Classes resume Monday, December 1, 2008.
DECEMBER    
16 Tuesday

Undergraduate and Graduate students, last day to withdraw from the university. Withdrawing from the University must be processed by the student's HSC school.

19 Friday School of Medicine and School of Nursing: Winter recess begins at 12:00pm. Graduate Program in Public Health: Winter recess begins at 2:00 PM; School of Dental Medicine: Winter recess begins at 5:00pm. Programs in the Basic Sciences and School of Health Technology and Management: Winter recess begins at the close of classes.
21 Sunday University Commencement
22 Monday School of Social Welfare: Winter recess begins at the close of classes.
23 Tuesday Fall Term ends.

JANUARY    
1 Thursday New Year's Day (classes not in session). For session code add/drop dates see Table of Session Dates - Spring 2009.
2 Friday Classes begin in the Basic Science programs and in the Schools of Medicine and some programs in Health Technology Management ($40 late registration fee assessed); Dental Medicine classes resume. For session code add/drop dates see Table of Session Dates - Spring 2009.
19 Monday

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (classes not in session). Open enrollment begins, Spring 2009 registration for undergraduate non-matriculated students.

26 Monday Classes begin in the Graduate Program in Public Health; Schools of Nursing; Social Welfare; Health Technology and Management and west campus. ($40 late registration fee assessed to all students who are not enrolled in at least one course before January).
31 Saturday First Day of Saturday Classes. This includes East (HSC), West and Manhattan campuses.
FEBRUARY    
1 Sunday

Last day for undergraduate and graduate students to drop a course or withdraw from the University without incurring tuition liability.

6 Friday

Last day for undergraduate students to add a course; last day for graduate and undergraduates to drop a course without a withdrawal (W) being recorded. Last day for students to process a Swap.

9 Monday Dental Medicine spring classes, late registration, and add/drop begins ($40 late registration fee assessed).
12 Thursday Lincoln's Birthday (classes in session).
13 Friday Graduate students only: Last day May/June (Spring) or July/August (Summer) 2009 degree and certificate candidates to file degree application in order to be included in the University Commencement publication. Student files candidate application with HSC school.
13 Friday Last day for graduate students to add or withdraw from a course (W will be recorded). Tuition liability will apply.
16 Monday Washington's Birthday (classes in session).
MARCH
