A First for Stony Brook Employees!
In a partnership created with our SUNY colleagues and the SkillSoft, web-based training organization, we now offer another avenue for training and development. Now you can choose to attend classes or take classes via the web and at your own pace.
SkillSoft is web-based training that offers 800 classes in business skills and technology training.
Certificate Program
Employees who would like to demonstrate mastery of skills can choose from 30 different certificate programs, for which they will receive a certificate of completion. For more information regarding certificate programs login to SkillSoft and click on the "certificate" button at the top of the page.
Registration
Your login ID is your Stony Brook ID number (the 9 digit number printed on the bottom of your SBU ID card) and your initial password is "USBWXYZ", where "WXYZ" is the last four digits of your Social Security Number ("USB" must be in uppercase). For people without a Social Security number, your password is "USB1234". After you have logged in for the first time, you should change your password. To change it, select the "Customize" link and follow the instructions. Under the "Customize" menu, you can update your email address and your password. If your email address is missing or is incorrect, please correct it. A correct email address is essential to correcting password problems. If SkillSoft cannot contact you by email, then there will be a delay in getting your password problem resolved.
Existing Users: Your login ID has been changed from your name to your University ID number. Your password remains the same.
Note: Supervisory approval is required in order to utilize SkillSoft during work time.
