Out of 56 counties in New York, Suffolk County ranks near the bottom for number of acres of farmland yet it ranks number 1 in market value with $168 million of agricultural products sold. Long Island has around 10,000 acres of land dedicated to mixed vegetables and 8,000 acres of land dedicated to potatoes.
