Foreign Schools
It is rare for students to go to optometry school outside of the US. The same thing goes for dental school. So why would I apply to a foreign dental or optometry school? I would apply if I were in a hurry to "get started" and did not want to spend time strengthening an academic record that is weak. Students who pursue this risky path should be careful! Tuition might be high and financial aid might be low. It could take extra time, even several years, to become licensed to practice your profession in the US. If things don't work out, heavy debts and a blighted career could be the result. Proceed with great caution.
It is much more usual for students to go to foreign medical or veterinary schools. The quality of the education you get can vary greatly from school to school, but if you apply, get accepted, and go to the better established foreign medical and veterinary schools you have a very decent shot at success.
