Is the postbaccalaureate program at Stony Brook right for you?
Stony Brook is large state school with a strong reputation in science and research. Our university has a medical center, a medical school, and a dental school; this translates into research and clinical opportunities for students. State tuition is very affordable compared to many private schools. All of these things are assets, but the key thing is for you to find the program that is the best fit for you personally.
A student who is used to small classes might be intimidated by some of our large science lectures. Most of our postbaccalaureate students do not reside in university housing, but live off campus. There is not much financial aid available for our program (often, this is not a significant factor due to our low public school tuition.).
It could be that the most important questions you have about postbaccalaureate premedical studies at Stony Brook are:
- Is the school convenient to you in terms of location?
- Is Stony Brook your kind of environment? (Some students seem to thrive in one kind of environment more than others: urban, rural, or suburban.)
Our postbaccalaureate page will show you how to apply to Stony Brook.
