News From Alpha Epsilon Delta

At this time we would like to invite you all to apply to Alpha Epsilon Delta, the National Health Pre-Professional Honor Society. We are proud to say that Stony Brook has successfully reestablished the New York Lambda Chapter and are now looking to recruit new members.

Becoming a member of Alpha Epsilon Delta is both an honor and a privilege. Whether you are pre-medical, pre-dental, pre-nursing, pre-pharmacy, etc., this national honor society is open for you. Alpha Epsilon Delta seeks to provide the tools necessary for its members to obtain success. This includes informational sessions and guest speakers which keeps members knowledgeable to important deadlines, current health issues, and also allow them to learn about different fields of medicine. Members also get insight into the future with visits from medical students and doctors. In addition, membership in Alpha Epsilon Delta can give members a sense of pride and involvement especially during community service events. Members also receive some very tangible benefits as well including discounts on Kaplan MCAT classes and eligibility for the Moore Scholarship and other smaller scholarships.

Membership in Alpha Epsilon Delta is noted on your transcript and one way to distinguish yourself as one of the elite. However, the strength of this distinction and status among the elite is only as strong as the members. It is the members and their consistent involvement which maintain this prestigious organization.

The basic requirements for membership are a 3.2 cumulative GPA and a 3.2 science GPA. In addition, applicants must have had at least three semesters of college level work completed, with at least two of those semesters completed at Stony Brook University.

For the Spring 2010 semester, applications are due no later than Monday, February 15th by 3PM. The application can be found at: http://www.aed-sbu.webs.com. All information relevant to the organization and instructions for the application are found at our website, but if you have any other questions, feel free to e-mail us at aed.sbu@gmail.com. We highly encourage all students to take this opportunity to apply and get involved! Best of luck.

Sincerely,
AED Executive Board
