Stony Brook alumna Ruchi Shah ’16 has been named to Gov. Cuomo’s New York State Council on Women and Girls.  The Council provides a coordinated State response to issues that particularly impact the lives of women and girls, focusing on nine areas of impact:  Education, Economic Opportunity, Workforce Equity, Leadership, Health Care, Child Care, Safety, STEM, and Intersectionality.

“As we celebrate the 100th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New York, we recognize the leadership role New York must play, and encourage other states to follow New York’s lead and recognize the responsibility they have to protect the rights of all American women and girls,” said Melissa DeRosa, Secretary to Governor Andrew M. Cuomo.

Ruchi is founder and CEO of Mosquitoes Be Gone, providing safe and effective all-natural mosquito repellent with a social mission. She is currently studying at Stony Brook University School of Medicine.
