Light Rail - Hiawatha Line

The light rail line in Minneapolis is also called the Hiawatha Line or Route #55. It provides frequent service and links to many other routes.  Work is currently being done on an additional light rail route (which I have information about in Light Rail Construction Updates on the Maps and Schedules page). The link to the Light Rail information on this page can be found from the Metro Transit Home Page using the pull down menu under the Maps and Schedules tab (or by clicking the text above this). The Light Rail page of the Metro Transit website provides links to information about how to ride light rail including fares, park and ride, schedules, etc. There are also links to future transit plans and the history of light rail in Minneapolis.

The Hiawatha light rail line provides frequent service and sheltered places to wait. Some of the bus stops also provide shelters, including some heated shelters

Riding Northstar

Northstar (Route 888) is a commuter railroad operated by Metro Transit. This web page provides information about how to ride Northstar including fares and schedules. The Northstar Station Spotlights (below the photo) provides additional information about the train as well as information about each stop.

The photo below of the Northstar train at the Fridley Station was taken by Mike Hicks. This photo is one in a set of great photos of Northstar trains, engines, and stations. Some of the photos contain information along with the photos.
