From the Directors of SBIGS

Global problems are not restrained by academic disciplines. SBIGS is our answer to that challenge; we are seeking new ways to

  • bridge disciplinary boundaries with inter- and transdisciplinary research
  • facilitate creative activities across departmental and divisional borders
  • enhance global graduate and undergraduate education
  • cooperate with sister institutes worldwide
  • obtain funding from a variety of external sources
  • provide local, national, and international consulting
  • offer seminars, colloquia, lectures, workshops and conferences on global issues.

Modern knowledge societies adjust constantly. Research at SBIGS focuses on the social, cultural, political, and historical dimensions of societal change.
