Biography

Jonathan Anzalone’s expertise is in news literacy, communication, and history. He is the author of Battles of the North Country: Wilderness Politics and Recreational Development in the Adirondack State Park, 1920-1980 (University of Massachusetts Press, 2018) and a coauthor of the online textbook Making Sense of the News: News Literacy Lessons for 21st-Century Citizens (Great River Learning, 2022).

He has presented his research at conferences hosted by the American Historical Association (AHA), the Boston Environmental History Seminar, the American Society for Environmental History (ASEH), the Yale University Working Group on Global Environmental History, the New York State Historical Association (NYSHA), the Missouri School of Journalism, the Long Island Council for the Social Studies (LICSS), the National Association of Media Literacy Educators (NAMLE), and the Network of Schools of Public Policy, Affairs, and Administration.

He has taught a variety of courses, including News Literacy, History of Mass Communication, The Press and the Presidency, History of Public Health and Medicine, World War II in Film, and Environmental History of North America.
