Repairing Roth Pond
Routinely the Environmental Stewardship division reviews all utility bills including the campus water bill. In researching causes for increases in water use, it was determined that the Roth Pond liner was ripped, and needed to be repaired. In order to start the project, the pond needed to be emptied. To ensure all wildlife was safe and secure volunteers from many campus departments including the SOMAS department all were on hand to assist.
After the pond was safely emptied, a new liner and aeration system was installed. This regrading and liner replacement project has been projected to save over 20,000,000 gallons of water per year.
In the second video, you can see how students benefit from the pond in the Fantastic Annual Roth Regatta.
