For 38 years, technology education has been at the core of his professional life. As a classroom teacher and department supervisor in a public school district, as the New York State Education Department (NYSED) State Supervisor for Technology Education, and as a teacher educator and director of several large-scale National Science Foundation-funded projects, his energies have been devoted to bringing technological education into the mainstream of education.
Mr. Hacker has co-authored four technology education textbooks, published dozens of papers and articles in national and international journals and consulted in over 20 States and internationally. He has directed several international NATO-sponsored conferences on Technology Education and edited two sets of NATO Proceedings. He has served as a peer reviewer for the National Science Foundation and was a member of the team writing the national Standards for Technological Literacy.
